Saturday, September 14th, 8 am – 4 pm

CONCORD — NHTI—Concord’s Community College, will host a two-day conference on “Mindfulness in Society” on September 13th and 14th, 2019. Internationally recognized experts in the field of mindfulness—Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH), Judson Brewer, and Rhonda Magee—will speak on Friday afternoon and participate in a reception that evening. On Saturday, over 20 local presenters will conduct workshops around the themes of mindfulness in education, business, health care, and society.

“Mindfulness as a discipline and practice is expanding all over the world,” says NHTI English professor Dan Huston. “This expansion has a lot to offer us on both an individual and societal level, helping people live more satisfying lives while also increasing success in education, the workplace, and personal relationships. It is our hope that this conference, in support of NHTI’s mindful communication courses and certificate program, will support the expansion of mindfulness as a practice throughout New Hampshire, New England, and beyond.” Friday’s keynote speakers will discuss how mindfulness relates to issues that are of vital importance in our lives, including politics, addiction, and equality.

Registration for Friday’s keynote talks and the reception is $50, which includes food samples and drink tastings from local restaurants, breweries, and wineries. The cost for Saturday’s workshops is $125, including continental breakfast and lunch. Tickets for both days are $150. Register online at https://www.nhti.edu/mindfulness_conference

NHTI is a leader in bringing mindfulness to higher education. Mindful communication instruction is integrated into several of the college’s associate degree programs, including Human Service, Addiction Counseling, and Information Technology, and the college recently launched a new certificate program in Mindful Communication.
