CONCORD — NHTI, Concord's Community College’s Alpha Upsilon Omicron chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK) hosted an induction ceremony on the evening of October 18th, in the Concord Orthopaedics Auditorium in Grappone Hall. The chapter celebrates its twelfth year at NHTI.
Interim President Dr. Cathryn Addy offered congratulations, and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Fiona McDonnell welcomed eight new members and acknowledged their accomplishment.
Phi Theta Kappa is an international scholastic honor society with a mission to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students, and to provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service, and fellowship. PTK members are eligible to apply for millions of dollars in scholarships each year. Invitations to join PTK are sent only to students with a 3.5 grade-point average after completing 12 or more credit hours of college-level work; they must be currently enrolled, and pursuing an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science degree. Established in 1910, Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and largest academic honor society in the world.
Alpha Upsilon Omicron Chapter co-advisors Trisha Dionne and Deborah Remillard inducted the following new Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society members during the candle lighting ceremony: Ashley Buchanan, Brandon Crawford, Dana DeMore, Aimee Echelberger, William Hoag, Madyn Kenney, Allison Roncone and Mariah Wilson.
Chapter officers for the 2018-2019 academic year include president Madyn Kenney; vice president Dana DeMore; secretary Ashley Buchanan; and historian Rebecca Cozzi.
For her contribution to the Alpha Upsilon Omicron chapter of PTK, chapter co-advisor and professor of Information Technology Deborah Remillard was inducted as an honorary member.
